Clark's Creek Watershed Protection Association is holding its second-ever CREEK WALK on SUNDAY, MAY 22

May 18, 2016

Josh First will be leading a creek walk along a private stretch of Clark's Creek on Sunday, May 22nd. He will be showcasing how aggressive forestry practices benefit important tree and native wildflower species. Below is an excerpt from the announcement by the Clark's Creek Watershed Protection Association. In 2013, Josh First and local botanist Jane Earle led a wildflower hunt along Clark's Creek to benefit the CCWPA and the Central Pennsylvania Conservancy. By all accounts it was a great success then, with about 25 native wildflower species identified.

JOIN US ON OUR CREEK WALK, SUNDAY, MAY 22!

YOUR CCWPA is holding its second-ever CREEK WALK on SUNDAY, MAY 22! We are still working on special guests but we have already secured the help of the MANADA CONSERVANCY; we hope to have some scientists and water quality experts also (stay tuned!).

The nice photo at left is where the walk begins -- a large and deep part of the creek, fed by streams coming from the north and the south. You will be amazed at the healthy hemlock growth, the condition of the banks, the habitat for colorful wildlife, and more!

We will meet at FLEMISH DOWN, 1231 Clarks Valley Road (follow the signs to the Red Barn) at 2 pm for orientation, then proceed to the banks of Clarks Creek.

Depending on the weather, we may go INTO the creek, or walk beside it for about a mile, checking hemlock growth, the health of the banks, water flow and water creatures, and other creek elements. Light refreshments will be provided before and after.

You should dress accordingly this is RAIN OR SHINE wear good bug repellent, etc. We have a release that you will need to sign (parents for children under the age of 18), but other than that, all we need is your enthusiasm!

Let us know you're coming! Email info@ccwpa.org.

But in any event, DON'T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY to experience Clarks Creek as you've never seen it before!
